Body Piercings are a form of self expression. Many people feel that certain piercings bring out their personality and show thier individuality. Some take body piercings to a religious level stating that body piercings saved their lives. The say this because when Jesus was hung on the cross, nails pierced through his body and that is what held him on the cross. No matter what your reasoning is, there is still some thing you should know and consider before getting any type of body piercing.

Deciding on the type of body piercing you want is the hardest part. Whether it be naval, nose, tongue or genital you need to decide what would be the easiest for you to take care of or which would be the least to notice if you are in a professional field. After you have decided what type of piercing you are going to get, then comes the decision of what piercing studio you are going to get it done at.

When deciding on a piercer and a studio there are certain things you want to look for. One of those above all is cleanliness. Is the area the piercer works in clean and free of any debris or infectious causing materials. You also want to make sure that the utilities used for the piercing are sterile and packaged in the sterilizing materials. You wouldn't go into a hospital and let a doctor stick you with a needle that he/she just used on the patient before you, would you? So why should it be any different when getting a body piercing? And last but certainly not least, you should see previous work done by the piercer before hand. Find out how many piercing he/she has done. How many have resulted in unsuccessful piercings? Get as much informatino as you can so that you can make the best decision.

Aftercare of your body piercing is very important. You have to make sure you take extra special care of the piercing so that you do not get an infection. Whether it's a simple nose piercing or the more extreme piercings such as industrials or orbitals, each has just as much important aftercare as the other. Be sure to follow the care instructions given to you by the piercer. If care instructions are not given, ASK!!!!!

Like I stated before, I'm NOT a doctor or a body piercer. I know what I know from others who have experienced it first hand. Here are a few tips for the aftercare of body piercings.

With a tongue piercing, you will use a lot of mouth wash. You want to rinse your mouth out with the mouth wash after meals; if you're a smoker, after smoking and of course whenever you drink something. It is recommended to not change the piercing for 2 weeks after. You will also want to avoid any kind of deep kissing for about 4-6 weeks.

Nose, Naval & Ear piercings are somewhat easier to take care of. Just wash the area with an antibacterial soap and keep some sort of product like Neosporin on it to keep the area from getting dry.

Some of your daily or recreational activities may have to be changed. For instance, you will want to avoid swimming in a pool or the ocean because you have an open wound. Salt and chemicals could get into the piercing and cause an infections. Be sure to never touch your piercing without washing your hands before and after. Also avoid wearing clothing or other items which may rub or tug on the piercing and cause irritation.

Butt Face

I know many of us women spend tons of money or have loads of products, and have spent countless amounts of money. There are so many products and creams that claim to dramatically diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, blemishes, as well as strengthen and nourish skin.

The original formula was created for a babies diaper rash. Today, there is a steady following which is causing an unembroidered flurry as its steadfast users praise its exciting intrinsic worth by word of mouth it is described as "the miracle cream under $6". A month ago I never heard of A&D, but I did know what diaper rash cream was.

I have found it to be the best moisturizing cream you`ll ever apply to your skin; it is specially formulated with two active ingredients, Petrolatum and Lanolin, and forms a protective barrier to help seal out irritating wetness and allows skin to heal naturally.

If you find yourself getting slapped in the face for having a cute bum, I think it's a sure sign –you apparently look like ass. What is the point to dash out into those over priced department stores; just to pile on perfume based lotions? Most of them break you out, and will some of these manufactures ever get it?

We (women) hate, we hate lipstick that taste like perfume! Anyway, there are tons of creams for this, creams for that out there, but it seems diaper rash cream is good for your butt (I mean face) and it will not bu a hole in your pocket.

Diaper Rash Cream is slathered on baby bums all over the world and works wonders for those delicate arses, says Jenni Rivard. Before you know it your face will be smooth and soft like a baby's butt!

If you're considering a career in the dental field this article is for you. (:-)

To begin we'll give a quick overview of dental tasks, then mention some of the specialties you can pursue and finally we'll look at the actions a person in the dental field takes within a typical day of working in other peoples mouths. (:-)

A dentist is a specialist who can diagnose, prevent and treat all disorders related to your teeth and gums. Dental care involves the restoration and preservation of your natural teeth, filling cavities, removing rotten teeth if necessary and providing artificial teeth replacement. Some dentists are general practitioners who work with preventative dentistry and use diagnostic procedures, X-rays and instruments to evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums. Dentists perform checkups, take impressions for dentures, fill cavities and fit bridges. They use a variety of dental appliances, hand instruments, and surgical implements to perform their work accurately. Giving anesthetics called numbing or freezing is also done by a dentist or a dental hygienist for those visits that will be quite painful. (:-)

The American Dental Association recognizes the following Dental specialties:
1) Oral surgeons
2) Periodontics (related with treating the gums)
3) Prosthodontics (making teeth or dentures)
4) Oral pathologist (treating diseases of the mouth)
5) Endodontics (root canal therapy)
6) Orthodontists (related with structure of teeth)
7) Dental hygienists (work with hygiene of oral cavity)
8) Maxillofacial surgeon

Phew! There's allot of areas to study there, better have a (:-).

What Does a Dentist Do?
• Diagnose and treat malformations, injuries and diseases of the teeth and oral cavity.
• Dentists improve patient's appearance by using various cosmetic dental processes and sometimes the help of surgical interventions.
• Dentists perform surgical procedures like tissue grafts, implants and extractions.
• Educate patients, mostly children on how to take care of their teeth and prevent cavities and oral diseases by showing how to floss and brush correctly and eat healthy foods. (:-)
• Dentists related with teaching field, teach dental hygienists and future dentists.
• Dentists perform research directed to developing new treatment methods and improving oral health.
• Dental hygienists work with patients alongside the dentist to perform allot of the routine and simpler tasks.

If you go to any dental practice, quite often the first person you'll encounter is a dental hygienist. Make sure you give them a (:-).

Dental hygienists are specialists who take care of your teeth, gums and oral cavity. A dental hygienist will clean and polish your teeth using tiny dental tools such as the mirror, tooth scrapper for plaque removal and special toothbrush. They also perform flossing to remove very tiny food particles from your teeth. They'll check your dental cavities by taking x-rays of your teeth. After checking your teeth for cavities, they'll recommend the needed treatment to you and your dentist and may refer to a specialist if necessary.

I hope you've enjoyed my smiling dental care article! Maybe you won't pursue the dental field, that's okay with me. I'll just be glad to know you smiled a pile (pun intended) and didn't waste your time while reading. Have a Great (:-) day!!

There are several cosmetic application techniques that are used by top Tinseltown makeup artists and professional stylists on runways models and Hollywood actresses, both on movie sets and for special events across the world. These techniques apply to women of all ages. These techniques will really bring out your best features, and help camouflage areas you feel may need a little more help or a radiance boost.

We Will Discuss the Following Techniques:

Foundation Application Techniques

Eyebrow Shaping, Arching and Pencil Application

Eyeliner Application

Eyeshadow Color Choices and Application Techniques

Foundation: Color Choice and Application Technique

Foundation is one of the most important cosmetics you will purchase and use. It is absolutely imperative that you pick the right shade of foundation. Pick a shade lighter than your skin tone and try to stay away from reddish or pink tones, as they tend to look very "pink" and ruddy in artificial lighting, and can make your skin appear uneven and flushed.

Foundation Application Technique

It is not negotiable that you apply your foundation with a makeup pad. There are some really excellent sponge makeup applicators right now that are used by makeup artists, and are a favorite of women everywhere who want to get the most natural and well blended look from their foundation.

Makeup sponges create wonderful, even finish since they make it nearly impossible to put too much foundation on, due to their absorption of excess liquid. Be sure to thoroughly blend the makeup with the sponge, covering each and every area of the face evenly and equally, including right up to the hairline, and even on the neck, so that there is not an obvious "line" where your foundation ends and your real neck color begins!

Eyebrows: Shaping, Arching and Pencil Application Technique

Eyebrow pencils are also one of the most important cosmetics in your beauty collection and daily makeup routine. Carefully choose the pencil color to be a shade lighter than your natural eyebrow color. This way, it will look more natural, instead of obviously "drawn on". When tweezing, follow the natural arch and shape of the brow bone and be sure to tweeze any stray hair often, for a clean and classic eyebrow shape like those coveted brows of celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Eyeliner: How to Select Color, and Application Technique

Eyeliner is a great cosmetic for accentuating, dramatizing, and bringing out your natural eye color and enhancing or even changing the shape of the eye. As with all other essential cosmetics, there is a specific technique for getting perfect results from eyeliner application. Brown is one of my personal favorites since it is so versatile and looks good on everyone in the daytime and at night. Brown can also be applied sparingly for a great, light daytime look, or more heavily for a smudgy, smoldering night time look.

Black eyeliner should probably be reserved for nights out on the town, or any night time usage, since black tends to be too severe in the natural daylight, and can actually wash you out and magnify complexion imperfections during the day when sun light is at its peak. If you still want to wear black during the day, that's fine. Just choose a more muted shade of black, such as a slate gray or a "grey black" - which is a great color between black and grey that many cosmetics companies are now offering.

Now that you know what color to use for eyeliner, here's the technique for applying it. Start with a sharp eyeliner pencil, lining the rim of your eye as close to the lower row of eyelashes as you can get without getting any of the cosmetic in your eye.

With a sponge-tipped cosmetics smudger, gently smudge the line you created using a gentle horizontal back and forth movement. You should always smudge your eyeliner at least a little bit - more if you want it more dramatic, or smokey looking. Eyeliner that has not been smudged looks to artificial and too severe. All good makeup jobs that you've seen are the result of good smudging!

If you want to make your eyes appear larger, use a bright white eye liner pencil (I know it seems weird, but trust me on this) on the very inner coers of the lower lid. This is a great trick that makeup artists use to create an optical illusion that the eyes are larger and brighter in color.

Eyeshadow: Color Selection and Application Technique

The first rule of thumb for this excellent and versatile, face altering cosmetic is to stay away from colors with pink, red or aubu hues, and these do not flatter most skin types. These tones actually tend to bring out the red, bloodshot look in the eyes, and make the eyes appear smaller than they really are, which I don't think is what any of us are aiming for!

Whether you wear browns, blues, greys or purples, make sure you have a nice pale nude or near white, slightly shimmery for the tops of your eyes, near the brow bone. Apply eyeshadow with a small, preferably fine haired or natural hair cosmetic brush. Don't go cheap on the brushes - you'll be sorry - you will get a superior finish and excellent durability if your spend a little more on a professional eyeshadow/eyeliner brush.

Brushes work much better than the small sponge-like applicators that usually come with most cosmetic cases when you buy eyeshadow at the store. Some of the new shimmery eye creams and squeeze tube liquid matte eyeshadows are also great for non-crease and lasting color - just be careful not to load up too much or it will look creased. Always apply eyeshadow a little more heavily on the crease between the upper and lower lid to add more depth and dimension to your eyes, and make them appear larger. Then, add the paler color to the top for added depth and perceived size.

Women are chasing down ultra botanicals facial cleanser in droves. Women are pretty da savvy when it comes to their skin and cosmetics, so they immediately recognized ultra botanicals as the healthiest facial cleanser on the market, with the papaya facial cleanser being their all time favorite.

A facial cleanser cleans the top layer of skin removing makeup, pore debris, and air pollutants that have attached themselves to the skin. It also removes dead skin cells and oil, leaving the skin with a healthy glow.

A well balanced, gentle cleanser that maintains the skins natural PH, is very important to women. Women insist on skin cleansers that not only clean their skin, but make their skin look healthier and younger. That's why the botanical facial cleansers have gained so much popularity. They are mild, they do not destroy the skins natural PH, and they replace important nutrients to the skin. After only a few weeks of use woman are seeing their skin look younger.

Just as their name indicates, these facial cleansers are made from natural products, rich in antioxidants including Vitamin C, and complete with anti aging properties. You will find ingredients such as aloe, coconut, jojoba, papaya, chamomile, orange blossom, yarrow, and even horsetail. No that's not the tail of a horse, but a very powerful antioxidant herb.

Because these botanical cleansers are so gentle, they can be used daily, both moing and night. Evening cleaning is especially important as your face has had an entire day of abuse. Your make up needs to be removed, you need to unclog your pores, and you need to remove the pollutants that you've been exposed to during your daily travels. To complete your facial cleansing you should add a botanical astringent which you should use after using your facial cleanser. You should also add a botanical scrub for exfoliating which you can use two or three times a week.

Botanical scrubs include ingredients such as apricot husks, while the astringents often include ingredients such as tea tree oil or green tea. These natural scrubs will gently remove dead skin and expose the fresh new layer of skin just waiting to reach the surface. The will help keep you skin both free of acne and bacteria which can cause acne.

So how do women really feel about botanical cleansers and related products. Aren't they like any other cleanser that's been on the market. A whole lot of hoopla, with basically the same results.

Women will emphatically tell you "no" botanical cleansers are different! They are gentler and more natural, and within two weeks you will not only feel the difference in your skin, you'll see a new healthy glow.

And here's the good news guys. There are full lines of botanical facial products available for men too. Those that have tried them are of the same opinion as the women. Now isn't that a first?

So treat yourself and your skin the way you deserve to be treated. Wrap yourself in mother nature!

Botox and Restylane have become exceptionally popular with patients in the last several years. The success rate of both of these products has proven to be excellent with minimal risk and very, very high patient satisfaction. The combination of Botox and Restylane achieve outstanding results for patients with tremendous feedback and satisfaction.

Botox and Restylane work in two different ways. Botox weakens the muscle action in specific areas of the face and, therefore, leads to significant improvements, particularly in the forehead, frown line, and crow's feet area. Restylane is a soft tissue filler and has proven very successful for filling in soft tissue indentations throughout the face, including areas such as the frown lines, laugh lines, cheeks, lips, and any other area where augmentation of the soft tissues is beneficial. Patients have found the results of Restylane very satisfying. Botox should be repeated at three-month intervals to get the optimal result, and Restylane should be repeated every six months to get the optimal result.

Outstanding results are achieved by the combination of both of these products. In particular, the following areas can be treated, which increases the final ultimate result an additional 50% beyond the use of just Botox or Restylane alone. Areas that are best treated by the combination are:

1. Frown lines
2. Specific crow's feet areas
3. Around the lip and laugh line areas

The combined effects of using Restylane and Botox have eliminated the need for more invasive or surgical procedures and yet can give superb results that, in many cases, mimic the results of more extensive and involved surgical procedures.

Are you looking for a cosmetic dentist to whiten your smile or perform some other cosmetic dental surgery or procedure? It is important that you choose a cosmetic dentist carefully, because your smile is one of your most important assets. The things that you should look for when choosing a cosmetic dentist are: proper training and education, good patient success rate, and that you are comfortable with them.

In order to practice any type of dentistry, technically all you need is a dental license. But, there are professional dental organizations which provide additional training and certification for the various dental professionals-such as a cosmetic dentist. When you are choosing a dentist you should make sure that they have the professional training that is required and that they are in good standing with the State Licensing Board. If there are any complaints against the dentist of your choice, check to see if they have been resolved and how they were resolved.

You should definitely find out if the cosmetic dentist you are looking at has experience in performing the procedure you are going to have done and if the experiences have been successful. One way to do that is to ask to see an album of before and after pictures of patients who have had your procedure done or a similar procedure done. You can also ask for references to contact. Friends and family may also be a good resource for cosmetic dentist referrals. Ask if they would use the dentist again and what they liked and didn't like about the dentist if anything.

Sit down with any dentist that you are considering and ask any questions that you may have. Some sample questions include: How long will the procedure take? How many visits will it take? What discomfort can I expect, if any? What is the recovery time? Make sure that the dentist is aware of your goals and expectations for the procedure and that they agree with them. They should be honest with you about the outcome. Almost any dental procedure will cause some pain and discomfort even if it is just momentary.

More often than not, we are besieged with commercial advertisements that claim to do miraculous work with their different brands of shampoos. Million dollars have been spent to create hypes after hypes inasmuch as they provide more fictions than facts about their shampoos. Below there are some of the most common myths found with your shampoo.

1. Hair Types
When you read the commercial literature, talk with your sales girls, advertisement pamphlets, you are more often advised to buy your shampoo according to your hair types. However, this seems to be another marketing technique that is commonly adopted by big shampoo companies to create more market segmentations in order to sell their products. The truth is that the categories are created much more than you need. The logic is that the differences in terms of their ingredients are minimal. In fact, those shampoos have to share a lot more common ingredients such as surfactants, quateary ammonium compounds, conditioning properties, sodium lauryl sulfate, water-binding properties, and preservatives in order to cleanse your hair and give your hair the best condition.

2. Natural Extracts
Herbal extract such as aloe vera appears to be another boosting factor that is commonly accepted as an important element in choosing your shampoos. Some elements that are contained in certain herbal extracts can be very benefit to your hair shafts. For example, anti-inflammatory elements and antioxidant. However, the truth is that those elements are easily wiped off when you try to rinse your hair after applying the shampoo during your shower. The fact is that they just do not 'stick' on your hair! Besides, some herbal extracts may do more harm than you expect. I will try to evaluate some of them in the near future.

3. Multi Vitamins
Besides those things mentioned above, you would find that vitamins not only could be taken orally in the nutritional industry but also can be applied to your hair shafts. The most common belief is that vitamin can nourish your hair. Nevertheless, there is no scientific research proving their effectiveness for hair care. The logic is simple. The process of digesting and absorbing a vitamin by oral can be very complicated. I would say too complicated! Such a process, which does much better by taking the vitamin orally, can hardly be transferred to exteal application. Furthermore, the ratio of vitamin that can provide protection or nourishment to a single hair shaft is minimal if compared with taking the vitamin orally. In short, the amount of vitamin is just insufficient to cover the amount of your hair shafts.

Dandruff is a problem in the united states and all over the world. The various reasons for dandruff are about as varied as the rumors themselves.

The Dandruff problem is caused because of a very small and tiny little fungus. This microscopic fungus organism is known as pityrosporum-ovle... I wish I knew how to pronounce that (LOL). This fungus is in really low quantities on normal healthy scalps. Whenever a person has Dandruff irritation there is a very large amount of pityrosporum-ovle in the scalp area. The organism feeds on the oily substance that is secreted by your hair follicles. This causes an botheration in the infected scalp area which in tu leads to a quicker cell tuover. This causes itching dandruff.

It is a fact of life that disposable razors are expensive. Just when they seem to be beginning to get a little cheaper, they add on a new extra-comfortable handle or more blades and the cost cycle begins all over again. If you want to opt-out of the disposable razor rat-race, though, there is a simple solution: get an electric shaver.

Electric shaving has lots of advantages. You don't need water, you don't need shaving foam. In fact, all you really need is some form of electricity, either batteries or mains power, and occasionally some cleaning solution to get old hairs out of the razor. It is also almost impossible to cut yourself shaving if you use an electric shaver, as they have special safety covers to avoid this happening.

However, there are also some downsides. Electric shavers can often be expensive to buy in the first place – a worthwhile investment in many cases, but that doesn't make it any less off-putting at the time. They also tend to run down their charge relatively quickly, making them impractical for travel use in places where you can't get electricity, or where you would need some kind of adapter to make the electricity supply work.

If you're going to buy an electric shaver, there are a few features that you should look out for, as they are very nice to have. The most important is the battery life, but it is also useful to have a battery indicator, so you can see whether the shaver is going to run out of juice soon or not. Many shavers now come with a combined cleaning and charging stand, which can be good for keeping your shaver clean without any extra effort. A final important factor is the shaver's weight and shape, with the best shavers being very light indeed and much easier to hold than cheaper ones.

A make-up or cosmetic bag is essential for every woman who wants to look presentable all the time. If you shop at department stores or even online, there's a wide range of cosmetic bags available. The problem is you can't seem to pick one! That's what this guide is all about - to give you tips and tricks on how to pick that make-up kit that is suited to your lifestyle. There are factors you should consider before jumping to buy a cosmetic bag. Your personal style, durability and of course, functionality all come into play. Read on to know more.

DO

1. Keep with your own style

Get a cosmetic bag similar in design to the purses or bags you currently use. A cosmetic bag is a woman's ultimate accessory and needs to fit with your entire wardrobe, or a good majority of it, not just what you are wearing at the time when picking out your cosmetic bag at the store.

2. Size matters

If you already have a purse, get a cosmetic bag that is small, portable and can practically fit anywhere. Professional make-up artists and extremely fashion-minded women may need to pick size over style. The Allison Barrett Cosmetic Bag and Bloom Cosmetic Bag are brands that have enough room for most of your cosmetic items.

3. Get functional with special compartments

If the cosmetic bag you choose is equipped with compartments, it will be easier for you to store brushes, concealers and other tidbits orderly and shipshape. Inspect the bag for special compartments - these are usually tough and will keep your things from getting damaged.

4. Make a statement

Cosmetic bags let you travel in style since you can choose an array of designs, sizes and colors. Nylon bags are more popular because it is custom-made with three different appealing designs. You don't want to be seen with a dingy old purse, would you?

DON'T

1. Overpay!

You can buy a small cosmetic bag from $5.00 to $10.00 or designer bags that may cost up to a searing $100.00 or more. Some bags come free if you buy a whole set of make-up.

2. Choose style over durability.

Cosmetic bags need to be strong and sturdy especially when traveling. Durable types of bags include Europe/U.S. size Conversation and the Wisteria Cosmetic Bag, which is known for its water-resistant lining and vintage feel.

3. Underestimate black

If you don't have the time to take care of your bag, pick one that is easy to clean to make its shelf life last longer.

4. Put everything in your bag

Choose what things are essential to you. You don't have to bring a hundred pounds of make-up when going to a party, to work, a girlfriend's pajama party, or even traveling. Bring the basics - like a tube of lipstick, mirror, blush, a brush, foundation or powder, eye shadow, eye liner and mascara.

Here's a list of essentials every woman should have in their cosmetic bag.

- A tube of lipstick

It can serve as a blush on too that can make you look fabulous in seconds. If you still have space, throw in a lip gloss for that extra shine.

- A mirror, preferably flat and compact for your cosmetic bag

Double sided mirrors are available for $3.00 to $5.00. Its hard to apply make-up without seeing your face right?

- A set of brushes

These are always important for touch-ups. You can buy a complete kit filled with miniaturized brushes that costs anywhere from $5.00 to $10.00. Of course, it is mandatory that you bring eyeshadow palette that you use regularly - buy one with all the colors that you trust. Don't buy one that you haven't even tested on your skin. Mascara and eyeliners are also indispensable for those occasional touch-ups.

- Blush

Bringing this along might be quite tricky because most of them come in big sizes. Choose one that is light, flat and compact. This is a basic element for that natural-looking healthy glow.

Remember, your make-up kit is a miniature version of your make-up case. If your bottle of foundation is too big, transfer some to a smaller bottle that seals tightly. Choose compact style mirrors and flat brushes to save space. You can also bring a traveling toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and facial tissues.

In today's high-stress world, a visit to a spa can provide a much needed renewal for your mind, body and soul. If you don't have the time and/or money to head to the nearest spa or resort, consider creating your own. Experience the benefits of a day at the spa by creating a near-professional spa in your own home. Here are some ideas for transforming you bathroom into a relaxing spa retreat.

SPA TREATMENTS
Widely used in spas, bath salts or salt scrubs made with sea salts are wonderful for their detoxifying properties. The Romans, Greeks and other European cultures have long believed in the benefits of healing through bathing in hotsprings.

SPA TOOLS
If you're giving yourself a body treatment, have a body brush, loofah or sponge within easy reach. One of the best ways to revive skin is to exfoliate before you get in the shower. The ancient spas of Japan were known for their dry brushing techniques. Gently brush your body using circular motions with a soft body brush, starting at the feet and working your way up. This light brushing technique removes dead skin cells while stimulating circulation.

DRY OFF
Pamper yourself with classic and elegant spa garb – a luxuriously thick white terrycloth robe. If you don't have a robe handy, find your fluffiest, softest towel. For an unmatched toasty treat, heat your robe or towel in the dryer before using.

MOISTURIZE

Although sometimes cosmetic eyebrow tattooing is a necessary step in the reconstruction of a face following a traumatic accident, it can also be used for patients who have sparse eyebrows and do not want to apply brow liner daily. Most of the time, these patients are women who are conceed about the way that their eyebrows frame their face. Some patients are allergic to cosmetics or have poor eyesight and cannot apply their makeup correctly. In these and other cases, cosmetic eyebrow tattooing is a viable option. Sometimes the tattoo is a permanent tattoo done purely for cosmetic purposes.

Eyebrow Tattoo Surgery - Finding a Surgeon

Finding a licensed and qualified technician to perform the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing may be difficult for a patient. Many people may claim to be qualified to do the procedure, when in fact their experience lies mostly in body tattoos. It is a subtle art that makes a technician able to do cosmetic eyebrow tattooing well and it also takes a fair amount of experience to make permanent eyebrows look natural. A patient can speak with friends and colleagues to see if anyone knows of someone who is reputable. If the patient wishes to be more discreet, then they can contact a plastic surgeon's office or the local academy of plastic surgeons to see who they recommend.

Ideal Candidates for Eyebrow Tattoo Surgery

The ideal candidate for cosmetic eyebrow tattooing is one that is in good health and has realistic expectations of the procedure. The cosmetic eyebrow procedure will not retu the area to a completely normal look, but will make the overall appearance of the patient more refined and balanced. Patients who are allergic or sensitive to makeup, have skin or hair loss disorders, illnesses, or just lack the time to put on makeup are all considered good candidates for the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing.

Eyebrow Tattoo Surgery - Consultation

In the initial consultation, the physician and patient will discuss the probable outcomes of the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing. Many physicians will have former patient pictures available for the new patient to examine. This will give the patient a good idea as to what can be achieved by the cosmetic eyebrow tattoo technician. The doctor will examine the eyebrow area and determine what can be done with the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing. Risks and anesthesia options will also be discussed in the initial consultation. A complete medical history will be taken in order to inform the doctor of any medical conditions or prescriptions that might interfere with the results.

Eyebrow Tattoo Surgery - Procedure

The permanent makeup tattoo that is applied is made up of vegetable products that are injected into the skin. After an anesthetic ointment is applied, tiny needles are used to inject the coloring and are sometimes seen on a rotary coil instrument. The tip is dipped into the dye and then the needle is placed into the skin in cosmetic eyebrow tattooing. Some bleeding may occur as the skin is punctured, but it will be minimal. Most cosmetic eyebrow tattooing procedures last an hour, but it depends on the extent of the work that needs to be done. At the end of the session, the area will be cleaned and an antiseptic cream will be applied. Eyebrow tattooing requires fine work to look good. To achieve this, the tattoos are often applied by hand rather than with electric needles. The technician can achieve much finer and pleasing results by hand, but this also makes the procedure longer.

Eyebrow Tattoo Surgery - Risks

Although the risks associated with cosmetic eyebrow tattooing are rare, they do occur. In very few cases, the patient can have an allergic reaction to the dye that is used. Infection is another main conce following the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing. Not following the physician's orders after the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing procedure can lead to a delay in healing and cause unwanted results. If a patient is unhappy with the results of the cosmetic eyebrow tattooing, laser skin resurfacing may help to remove the coloring, but may not be able to remove it entirely.

Collagen is one of the main constituents of our skin. Located in the dermis, it is responsible for the resistance and integrity of the tissue. Collagen is a protein that serves as a key structural component of tissue, such as skin, bones, ligaments, etc. The dermis, the inner layer of the skin, contains large amounts of collagen, elastin and fibers which are responsilbe for your skin's strength, texture and elasticity. Also, as we age, collagen becomes hard and cross-links with neighboring fibers making it difficult for the skin to hold moisture or maintain elasticity. It collapses on itself below the surface of the skin thus seen on the surface of the skin as wrinkles.

Wrinkles, lines and rough skin texture are a SURE SIGN OF POOR DERMAL COLLAGEN HEALTH. Collagen used in creams remains an effective tool in the area of cutaneous hydration. In fact, one can compare its molecule to a big sponge able to absorb a great quantity of water. Therefore when applied to the skin it maintains it to a humid state and provides it with optimal hydration thus reducing the appearance of ageing signs.

After the age of 20 collagen production reduces l % per year.

Collagen creams help by hydrating (moisturizing) the epidermis which tends to firm and revitalise, favours cellular renewal, smooth and plump up the skin by increasing the skins elasticity. Help to nourish, repair and tighten the skin as it helps to replenish the skin's own natural collagen making it softer and radiant. The main role of collagen creams is to help retain water in the stratum coeum, that is to maintain the epidermis in a normal state of hydration. Also collagen is well known for its healing properties!

Recommended use of collagen skincare products are at any age or as soon as fine lines or wrinkles start to appear!

As the skin surrounding the eyes is sensitive compared to the other parts of the body, more attention is required. The darker your scars appear, older you look and your pretty face tus unkempt due to these circles. Besides the dark circles you may come across other problems like conjunctivitis, swellings and there are many severe problems like lymphoma, cataract, inflammation of iris, etc. There are a few suggestions mentioned for simple eye problems below. Your eyes are the index of your face value. The prettier your eyes look the more speedy attention you may attract from the public.

Regular skin care is required to maintain the area surrounding your eyes. Use a gel or a cream and rub it gently around the orbital bone. The orbital bone is the area that falls directly under the eye structure. Be careful not to rub harshly when you rub around the eye area. The harsh rubbing can only lead to more irritation.

Apply the cream to the skin and relax for sometime. If you have to put on a facemask, then soak the little cotton pads into the soap water and place it on the eyes when they are closed. Otherwise, you may use them around 2 cucumber slices to make your eyes cooler. In this way you can provide a pleasant feeling to your eyes. And you can get rid of your dark circles around your eyes quickly. Your skin will glow when these circles vanish.

Whenever you experience problems like sore eyes due to harmful infrared rays, wind or after using water with chlorine, then rinse your eyes thoroughly with enough distilled water. Mix rose water with about 1-2 tablespoons in distilled water. Give a suitable bath to the eyes.

Sometimes you may develop mild swelling on your eyes. This mainly occurs due to the excess fluid that is accumulated or the toxins that are present within the eye. In this case, gently rub around your eyes so that the lymphatic nerves are activated. By doing this you will be able to relax faster. If you still want to provide a soothing and a cooling effect to your eyes, then apply cream or gel. Keep them in the fridge for nearly one day and rub them around your skin delicately.

If you think the pain is getting severe then consult a physician.

Choosing the right place to be pierced is a vital consideration. You should not use any piercing venue unless you are 100% happy, for very obvious reasons. Not only does AIDS remain a threat, so do many other diseases that are even easier to transfer including Hepatitis B and C. The following guidelines are there to help you remain safe and happy with something which is, for many, a big step to take.

Never be afraid to ask questions. If the piercer becomes in any way abusive or evasive leave. There are plenty of professional body piercers who will be more than happy to answer your questions that you can use instead. Check out the guidelines below and ask questions of the piercer if there are any parts you are unsure about.

Autoclave (sterilizer) - ALL piercing studios should have a working autoclave. This should be inspected and maintained on a regular basis and there should be certificates available to prove this. Test strips should also be in use to ensure that the autoclave is performing to spec between service periods.

Working area - Needless to say this should be spotless. Couches or chairs used to pierce on should be made of a smooth, easily cleanable material and a new disposable sheet should be used for each client. No smoking signs should be evident and the no smoking rule should be made to be seen being enforced.

Equipment - All re-usable equipment such as clamps, scissors etc should be sterilized with each use. Needles should never be re-used and you should be able to see the sealed, sterile packets containing them opened prior to use on your body. The body piercer him/herself should be clean and using a fresh pair of disposable gloves with each client. Never let your body be pierced with a 'gun'. No professional piercer will use them for anything other than the earlobe and even then, they are frowned upon by many professional piercers. Apart from the gauge of the jewellery most guns use being too small, jewellery inserted with a gun can sometimes be prone to pulling into the skin.

Jewellery - Only surgical steel and titanium jewellery are recommended for initial body piercings. However, due to the high nickel content in the most common types of surgical steel, there is now an EC directive recommending that this is not used for the initial piercings as some people have allergies to the nickel. As this is the case we recommend only using titanium jewellery for the initial piercing.

Elizabeth Brodie is the owner of Hot-Jewellery a UK site specialising in quality body jewellery for most common piercings.

If you thought cleansers just removed skin oil and daily grime from your skin, think again. The cleansers have come a long way from just cleaning to giving you a moisturized and mild looking skin. The cleansers do affect your skin cells in many ways than one. They must protect your skin cell proteins and lipids. Quickly, lipids are compounds of fats and they are not water soluble but soluble in alcohol and fat solvents. They are important constituents of your living skin cells.

The cleansers affect the skin cells positively providing humectants that minimize damaging interactions between surfactants (surface acting substances), skin proteins and lipids thereby minimizing damage to your skin. At the same time the vitamin content (A, C and E) of the cleanser revitalizes the skin cells and exfoliate the dead skin cells.

Always choose your cleanser carefully going by the nature of your skin, the ingredients and their suitability to your skin. Because you need cleansers to have a positive effect on your skin. The cleansers have a wide range of ingredients like Tea tree oil (about 10%), salicylic acid etc. meant for all types and purposes.

Tightening or stiffening is another undesirable feeling or effect that is left over by some cleansers on skin cells. Today specialty cleansers for sensitive and soap restricted skin types are available in the market. These cleansers sooth, soften and moisturize your skin leaving you with a healthy and beautiful feeling.

Removing the dead skin cells (exfoliation) helps give your skin a fresh and younger look. Exfoliation can be done every day for oily skins. You can use a cleanser with Glycol 10 percent.

The crux of the matter is, the effect of cleansers on skin cells is the result of what you can choose today given the wide range of cleansers available for as many skin and need types.

What are clip-in hair extensions and how are they attached?

Clip-in extensions are perfect if you want to tu your hair into beautiful flowing locks instantly. But, of course, on the down side, they have to be removed at the end of the day. So clip-ins are good for a party, a special date or just whenever you want to look different for a few hours. They are much cheaper than salon-made permanent hair extensions. Another advantage is that clip-ins don't damage your own hair in any way.

Quality hair extensions are several strands of hair, each attached individually. Usually 3- or 4-inch wide pieces go on the back of your head in several layers, and a few 1- or 2-inch wide pieces are put on the sides. As the name suggests, each strand is attaché to your own hair with a clip. With a little bit of practice, clipping the extensions in becomes rather easy and takes only a few minutes. Taking them off is even easier.

You can usually find 14", 16" and 18" clip-in extensions. Anything longer puts too much tension on your own hair.

Who can wear clip-in extensions?

Clip-in extensions are suitable for people whose natural hair is shoulder length or longer. If you have medium length hair, extensions can make it longer. If you have long but very fine hair, or your hair is not in its best condition, clip-in hair extensions are a great way to bring richness and fullness to your hair.

However, clip-in extensions will not work for women with very short hair. Extensions only look natural when they are mixed in with your natural hair, so if your hair is short, people will notice that you are wearing extensions. If you have a short haircut, but are dying for long locks, buy a wig that is similar in color to your natural hair. High quality designers wigs look very natural - nobody will guess that you are wearing a wig unless you tell them. If a wig is not for you, then you can go for salon-made hair extensions that are braided or glued to your own hair. These stay in for several months, but cost significantly more than clip-ins.

Do clip-in extensions look natural?

It depends on the quality of extensions you get. First, you should know that hair extensions can be made from natural human hair or from synthetic fibers. I will be honest: synthetic hair extensions are cheap, but you get exactly what you pay for. They just don't look right. High quality human hair clip-in extensions, on the other hand, look like they grow from your own head.

If you look online, you will find many brands of clip-in extension. It is best to go for a well known maker of hair-pieces and extensions, such as Diva in a Box, PutOnPieces or Raquel Welch. See pictures of clip-in hair extensions (will be a link) from different brands.

Since the extensions are mixed in with your own hair, color matching is very important. And the good news is that human hair clip-in extensions can be colored to match your own hair color exactly. However, I wouldn't recommend doing that at home - it is better to color your extensions at the salon. You can also use hot iron on the human hair extensions to curl them a little.

How much do they cost?

The cost varies greatly, depending on the material. Synthetic hair extensions will cost you less than $100. For a real human hair extensions, you might pay from $200 to $400. However, you can get good discounts through online hair extensions and wigs shops

Clip-in hair extensions can be real fun. They will help you to create a different image instantly, which is very important for a busy mode woman.

People from all walks of life and all ages live with eczema; however, it typically appears in infants. Also called contact dermatitis, eczema is actually a group of skin conditions. Although it may sometimes look like a contagious condition, eczema is not contagious.

Symptoms related to eczema depend on the causes and severity of the form of eczema. A person with mild eczema has dry, hot, and itchy skin. Severe eczema causes the skin to crack, bleed, and often takes a long time to heal. Inflammation in the area is common depending on the type of eczema.

Type of eczema

More information

Atopic eczema

- Most common form of eczema; affects children and adults.Symptoms include:

- extreme itchiness

- dryness of the skin

- redness

- inflammation

Irritant contact dermatitis
- Occurs when skin becomes irritated by detergents and other chemicals (e.g. perfumes, soaps, bubble bath powder and more).

Varicose eczema
- Affects skin on the lower legs and is caused by poor circulation of blood.

Allergic contact dermatitis
- Body's immune system attacks a substance in the skin.

- Symptoms are similar to those listed for atopic eczema.

Infantile seborrhoeic eczema
- Found on infants under one year old.

- Often looks unpleasant but does not affect the infant's comfort and may appear on the scalp or bottom.

Discoid eczema
- Typically associated with adults.

- Found on upper body and lower legs.

Dealing with eczema

In order to deal with eczema, you need to figure out what type of eczema you have. A doctor can help a person living with eczema or someone caring for a child with eczema manage the condition.

Diagnosis of eczema is not simple. A doctor must look at the person's medical history, when they first recognized the condition and what triggers the condition. Some people with atopic dermatitis have allergies and may need allergy testing, especially if treatment with medication is not working.

Reducing the number and frequency of outbreaks is the goal of any eczema treatment. To reach this goal, a person living with eczema may need to:

- make certain lifestyle changes (e.g. avoid certain irritating products)

- use medication to control the outbreaks

- kidneys

- follow a regular skin care routine

Lifestyle changes are often useful in reducing and preventing the symptoms of eczema. However, some of these lifestyle changes work for some people and not others. Some changes to consider include:

- wearing cotton clothing and using cotton bedding to reduce the itchiness associated with the condition. Synthetic fibres don't allow the skin to breathe and wool can irritate the skin.

- using biological laundry detergents, also avoid using fabric softeners. Synthetic laundry detergents, and fabric softeners may increase itchiness and cause a person to scratch more often. As a result, not using them may help reduce the skin's itchiness.

- vacuuming, dusting, and changing bedding regularly. This is extremely important because it reduces the number of house dust mites and the droppings from dust mites that are found in bedding, mattresses, curtains, and carpets.

- possible changes to the foods you eat. Even though the link between diet and eczema is not conclusive, making changes to certain foods consumed in some severe cases of eczema, especially in babies and young children seems beneficial. Always ask your doctor before making dietary changes to ensure the foods eaten will include all necessary nutrients for growth and development.

Common treatments for people with eczema require moisturization of the skin and use of medications, if necessary. Treatment is usually based on a person's age, health, medical history as well as the type and severity of eczema. Possible treatments consist of:

- lotions and creams: These products are applied directly on the skin to keep in as much moisture as possible. Using organic lotions and creams may be a good alteative to non-organic moisturizers since the non-organic moisturizers contain synthetic chemicals that may cause an outbreak. Moisturizing the skin after showering helps lock in moisture.

- medications such as topical steroids, oral steroids, and topical immunomodulators: Prescription and non-prescription corticosteroids come in the form of creams and ointments that can be applied to the skin. Prescription corticosteroids are more potent than non-prescription ointments but both have potential side effects, especially if used for long periods of time. Oral steroids are usually prescribed for severe outbreaks. Topical immunomodulators do not contain steroids and are available by prescription to treat atopic eczema.

Other tips that may help people with eczema improve the skin's condition include:

- keeping nails short

- avoiding sudden changes in temperatures (e.g. going from cold environments to hot environments)

- relaxing to reduce stress

The tanning industry is showing no signs of stopping. If you ever wanted to open a tanning salon, now is the time to buy wholesale tanning beds. Many retailers sell tanning beds at wholesale costs. The best place to buy wholesale is online, since there are no warehouses or sales staff to pay. Online vendors have special buying relationships with manufacturers because of the high sales volume they generate. (Furthermore, even if you want to buy a single bed at wholesale cost, just contact a web vendor and ask whether you can piggyback on another customer's large order.)

Another way to buy wholesale is to contact the manufacturer. They are always looking for free advertising by selling to potential commercial tanning bed salon entrepreneurs. You can save even more money by proposing an agreement whereby you would market a manufacturer's products exclusively.

Used Tanning Beds

There are some used tanning beds out there that are as good as new, at a fraction of the cost. When considering purchasing a used tanning bed, find out the year, make and model, just as if it were a car. Is there built-in obsolescence? Why is the owner selling? Is the bed in violation of FDA rules? Is it malfunctioning? Has the warranty expired? How deep is the discount?

Discount Tanning Beds

You can buy discount tanning beds without giving up quality. Every so often, tanning beds are replaced by newer models, prompting manufacturers to get rid of their slightly out-of-date overstock brand new, at a used price. These out-of-date models can still include a full warranty.

Cheap Tanning Beds

Consider buying a tanning bed at auction. Sometimes salons go out of business and their equipment is auctioned off to pay off any outstanding debt. Keep an eye on online auction houses such as eBay as well as foreclosure notices in your local newspaper.

Otherwise, you can opt for a smaller tanning device known as a solarium. And not only do solariums cost one-tenth as much as tanning beds, they are easy to move and you can store them in a small closet.

What are your lifestyle and hair habits?

You may look fantastic after you leave the salon wearing a new trendy celebrity hair style. But will you look fantastic after you have washed and styled your hair? The excitement of getting a new hair style sometimes overpowers us into an unreal reality. We imagine how we will look sporting the new layered hair style. How we will wear a certain outfit, with our hair perfectly styled in the new look. When reality hits—usually after the first shampoo---we are generally disillusioned with our hair style.

If you face reality before you have any scissors go near your hair, then you may be happier in the long run. Many lifestyle considerations must be evaluated with each type of celebrity hair style you may want.

  1. Are you extremely active or inactive? If you are constantly swimming, exercising, riding a motorcycle, you will require extra styling time and work to keep your celebrity hair styles looking good.
  2. What aspect of your hair would you like to enhance? (i.e. texture, volume, wave, length, color) These aspects have an important role in fine-tuning the hair style that best suits you.)
  3. How much time do you spend styling your hair every day? If you get a hair style that requires more styling time, will you be able (and willing) to put in the time?
  4. Are you good at dealing with your hair, or do you struggle with getting it to do certain things? If you struggle with your hair, you would not want to pick a high maintenance hair, i.e. lots of layering, curls as they will require extra work.
  5. Are you more comfortable with long or short styles? Sometimes we see a fantastic celebrity short hair style and desperately want the look. Remember that once you cut the hair off, it will take a long time to grow back. Of course there are hair extensions!
  6. How often do you shampoo/condition your hair? Referring to hair extensions above, if you want long, beautiful hair with hair extensions, be aware of the extra time needed to shampoo/condition your hair. And every time you shampoo/condition your hair, you will be re-styling it.
  7. Is your hair extremely dry or oily? Very dry hair may not hold up to constant flat ironing, curling irons, etc. If you need these appliances to create your celebrity hair style, be sure to deep-condition your hair regularly to combat the dryness. Extremely oily hair may not hold a curl, and will definitely cause issues with many hair extension methods. Be realistic about what you can do with your hair.
  8. Are you experiencing any type of unnatural hair loss? Hair loss can be camouflaged by your hair style. Don't pick a hair style that will accentuate your hair loss or thinning. Be sure to look into various hair loss treatments. If caught early, many hair loss situations can be reversed or at least halted.
  9. Do you have any cowlicks or a natural and persistent part? No matter what hair style you get, you will need to consider these issues. Adapt the hair style you are looking for to accommodate any imperfections in your hair.
  10. You have picked a celebrity hair style that you want. Do you know what the styling requirements are to get your hair to look like that every day?
In short, you should consider these 10 lifestyle and hair habits factors before getting a celebrity hair style. Be realistic in what you can do with your hair. Stay tuned for Best Celebrity Hair Styles for Your Face- Part 4 Searching for the hair styles you like.

Cosmetic dentistry is becoming an increasingly more popular field as people try to improve their looks by improving their smile. Cosmetic dentistry can be as simple as teeth whitening, or it can be as complex as years of orthodontia and braces. If you are considering having any work of this type done, you should educate yourself on the procedures as well as how to pick a dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry. Here are a few of the basic terms and procedures that you should know:

Teeth whitening: You have probably seen over the counter products for this, but for those who are not happy with those results, you can visit a dentist and get this cosmetic dentistry procedure done. Some dentists will perform the procedure in the office while some will give you a kit to use at home. See which method is best for you.

Bonding: This cosmetic dentistry procedure is when the dentist applies a permanent material that is carefully colored to match to a tooth that has a crack, a chip, or some breakage on it.

Enamel Shaping: The dentist smoothes and shapes the rough or uneven surfaces of the tooth to make it more even-especially in the cases where a tooth has been broken or damaged. This is often done in combination with bonding.

Veneer: A veneer is a shell that covers the front of a tooth that is discolored or misshapen or it fills a gap between teeth.

Braces: Braces are one of the most expensive cosmetic dentistry procedures. Children as well as adults can get braces in order to correct crooked teeth or an over or under bite. Sometimes this is a recommended procedure because of other problems associated with having crooked teeth.

To choose a cosmetic dentist you should make sure that they not only have a license but also that they are certified to do cosmetic procedures. A dental license does not guarantee that the dentist has had the appropriate training and experience to do cosmetic procedures. You can also ask the dentist as well as friends and family for references and referrals.

Brow Lift – Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

Throughout life, natural signs of aging occur on all of our bodies. The forehead broadcasts a telltale sign of aging more so than any other place on our body. Fortunately a forehead lift is one of the easiest and among the most common procedures to fight the visible signs of aging. During the aging process the muscles and skin on the forehead begin to lose a great deal of elasticity and eventually causes drooping. This will give the appearance of fatigue, frustration and sometimes anger.

Smoothing out the lines and lifting the sagging skin will give the forehead a younger and more refreshing look. Generally most people choose to have a brow lift performed between the ages of 40 – 60, but because it's such a quick and simple procedure, anyone can use it to enhance their appearance.

Today, brow lifts are generally performed using one or two techniques. The first technique is more traditional as it requires a lengthy incision along the hairline, starting at the beginning of one ear, and ending at the other. The hair on both sides of the incision line is tied back, and the forehead skin is separated from the tissue below. The skin is then stretched across the forehead and reattached within the hairline by tight stitches and sutures. Most surgeons then cover the area with surgical gauze and bandages, but some choose not to.

A less invasive procedure used to perform a brow lift is called an endoscopic brow lift. Instead of using one long incision, the doctor makes around three half inch cuts into the top of the scalp where a pencil thin scope is then inserted. The scope is connected to a camera which allows the doctor to view beneath the skin without having to cut it open.

While the camera is placed into one incision a surgical tool is used inside another. The forehead skin is lifted while the underlying tissues are smoothed out or removed entirely. The smaller incisions are then washed away and stitched. Depending on the doctor, sometimes they are covered with gauze or antiseptics.

There are more than a few alarming trends that are starting to gather steam in the area of cosmetic dentistry. For years, the talk has been about the impact of managed care and how you can position your practice in order to deal with this risk to conventional protection and fee for service dentistry. The reality is, managed care is here to stay, and it's transforming speedily into any number of pretty hideous forms.

Conventionally, doctors have established managed care programs only when they have new operating time. They also have their flat fixed cost being covered by the fee for service of cosmetic dentistry.

There are some practices that have enrolled in programs some fee schedules that offer to pay more than the changeable cost associated with treatment.

The troubles for the dentist occur in three areas.

1. First would be the bad management of the care program. For example one who has a compensation schedule that really does not sufficiently compensate him for the kind of methods he generally uses and the treatment he performs. If you are a dentist and you are diagnosing a patient with four quads of root planning and you do not cover the cap program, you'll end up with some serious problems, not the least of which is a hygienist who has nothing left to do with her time.

2. Another problem occurs when the doctor and his staff are not capable of gaining the patients acceptance for the optional and upgraded treatments considered clinically superior. Even if the treatment would be better for the patient in the long run, bad plans keep patients from making these choices.

3. The last problem comes when the office staff is unable to deal with the paperwork that is connected with the managed care programs.

It has almost taken three years for dentists and practitioners to develop resources and professionalism in dealing with the expanding managed care trend.

The goal of dentistry in the future is to avoid managed care by means of keeping your chairs filled with all the services that can be offered. Some demographics in the market will not be able to afford these services but the future era of dentistry can change that. As a result, fewer graduates from cosmetic dentistry have marched on stage. The total number of students has decreased, partially because of the closure of some schools. Another reason is due to the financial problems and the decreased class numbers. In the future, the success of cosmetic dentistry cannot be achieved by having fewer students in the classroom. There are a lot of factors that affect the student's goal — financial considerations (we all know that education is expensive) to finish the programs. If schools offer programs that will keep the payments at a reachable amount, there are hopes of maintaining good cosmetic dentists in the coming years.

The Botox toxin is not so toxic if you're trying to take the crinkle out of your wrinkles. The clostridium botulinum bacteria produce Botox. Now you see why we call it Botox for short. The protein toxin is being used around the world to help produce a healthier, more youthful appearance.

It's not surprising that we develop wrinkles, as we grow older. Every time we smile, frown, cry or laugh we make an imprint on our faces. If we're lucky, it takes years before we can visibly see the imprint. If we're not lucky, then the wrinkles are more obvious than we'd like. Whichever is the case, the wrinkles inevitably surfaces and when they do Botox is here to fight it.

Botox works hard to eliminate the wrinkles that occur when we use our face muscles too much. "I remember when I was growing up, my mother use to tell me not to frown. Never, ever did she tell me that I'd end up looking like this," says 55-year-old Gladys Rhome. Rhome had botox injected into the laugh lines around her mouth. She is very happy with her first treatment of Botox. Now, six months later she is coming back for more. "It helped me to get rid of lines around my mouth. It's time for me to get rid of the lines on my forehead as well, she laughs.

The FDA gave Botox the okay for use in April 2002. Since that time Botox has proven safe in getting rid of our most hated facial wrinkles. I'm talking about wrinkles like the laugh lines Gladys Rhome suffered from as well as frown lines and crows feet. Doctors have been using Botox for more than ten years and so far they've seen no serious side effects. "I had a little swelling after my first treatment," says 42-year-old Sara McFarlane. She is a Botox pro. McFarlane has received three Botox injections in the last two years. She also plans on one day having a Botox party. Hosting a party is one of the ways some folks are spreading the good news about the wrinkle-crinkle Botox.

Whether you do it alone, or with a group of friends you would be surprised to see how relatively easy the procedure is. The Botox injection is placed directly into the face muscles that create wrinkles. "All I felt was a little pinch, then numbness. The numbness went away after a couple of days," says McFarlane. She may have gotten use to the numbness, but it's very hard to get use to not frowning.

Botox can prevent you from frowning and some people don't like that. However, most people can live with the side effect. "At first it was pretty odd, but I grew to accept it," says 44-year-old Rebecca Stanton. Stanton has used Botox on and off for the last three years. She's used it so much that she can't remember how many times she's been injected.

Botox took away Stanton's frown and it could take away yours as well. A tiny needle is used to place Botox in a muscle along the wrinkle line. A small amount of Botox basically renders the face muscles helpless. The amount is so small that you don't have to worry about it spreading through your body. Your lines will diminish and in some areas disappear altogether.

You may experience a little localized pain, tendeess and bruising in the aftermath of the injection. Your muscles in the vicinity of the injection may also be a little weak. However some people see this as a minor annoyance. You can see the affects of the injection right away. "It was great! I got my injection on a Saturday. I went to work on Monday and everyone was talking about how well rested I looked. I didn't tell them I got a Botox," says 31-year-old Jessica Lake.

The treatment lasts approximately three months to six months. Most people will need another injection after that time. You can repeat the injection as long as you don't have any serious side effects. The two good things about a Botox treatment are that it can be repeated as many times as you like. And, the treatment takes less than an hour. You can literally do it on a lunch break from work. In fact, doctors say the more treatments you have the longer the lasting effects seem to be.

Botox is used in extremely small amounts and does not spread throughout the body. An allergic reaction is not very common. However there is the possibility that you may have a problem with a droopy brow or eyelid. It is not a problem that will not correct itself over time. Botox can be used by almost anyone. However you should not use it if you're are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease.

The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as gifts. In mode times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances, which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils:

1) Strength of smell - Perfume oils are highly concentrated and up to ten times more concentrated than department store perfumes. This quality allows oils to last longer than their eau de perfume counterparts.

2) Alcohol - Perfumes have alcohol in them, which creates different smell effects. Most body oils use carrier oils like jojoba or grapeseed oil in place of alcohol. In some fragrances, the smell can change as the alcohol evaporates different scent notes through time. With oils, the scent is more constant.

3) Price - A noticeable difference between perfumes and perfume oils is price. Perfumes have a very high markup and great profit margins, which is perhaps why many celebrities have embarked on the trend of creating their own perfumes and colognes. Perfume oils can be sold very cheaply, or even more expensively than the perfumes, depending on how they are positioned in the market.

4) Body chemistry - Just because a perfume or cologne smells good on you, doesn't mean that the oil version will. Perfumes only have a small percentage of oil, so they are quite different than pure body oils. This interaction between the fragrance and your body may produce a different scent perception altogether.

5) Packaging - Clearly, department store perfumes are very nicely packaged and thus make great gifts for friends and family. Many perfume oils are sold in less attractive containers, which is part of the reason for their lower price.

6) Uses - Perfumes are only intended for use on the body, but perfume oils can be used to create a variety of scented products, like soap, candles, bath oils, air fresheners, and many other types of scented products. Be aware that there are different types of fragrance oils and that pure uncut oils are not safe for use on the skin.

In summary, whether you choose to use perfume oils or not will depend on the factors above. Try out a small sample first and who knows, you might just discover a delightful new product to add to your personal inventory.

HELP MY SMILE!

Dear Dr. John,
I am unhappy with the way my teeth look! They're stained, crooked, short, and they have gaps between them. What are my options? Catherine-Belmont

Patients unhappy with the appearance of their smile have several options. These options include, teeth whitening, bonding, porcelain veneers and all ceramic crowns and bridges.

The least expensive and most popular cosmetic procedure is teeth whitening. Teeth whitening can be very effective in brightening stained teeth. There are essentially two techniques for whitening teeth. The first technique requires two office appointments [home whitening]. Impressions of your teeth are taken during your first appointment; these are used to fabricate custom trays that will hold the whitening gel in contact with your teeth. On your second appointment you retu to pick up your custom trays and the whitening gel. Once dispensed, the patient applies the whitening gel at home as prescribed by the dentist.

The second technique is performed in little over an hour in the office with BriteSmiles' patented teeth whitening procedure [in office whitening]. This procedure utilizes a light activated gel, which erases years of staining in just over an hour's time. With the BriteSmile procedure it is not unusual to see patients whiten their teeth by as much as ten shades, the results can be amazing! Although teeth whitening will brighten your smile, the procedure does not address cosmetic issues such as gaps, crooked teeth, and tooth length.

Direct bonding is the placement of tooth colored material directly on the front surfaces of the teeth to cover stains and modify the shapes and spaces of mal-positioned teeth. Bonding is a relatively inexpensive procedure that usually requires one visit. The shortcoming of bonding is it stains easily and is not very durable.

Provided you are a good candidate, the best way to improve a smile is with the placement of porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. Veneers can permanently eliminate stains on the front surfaces of teeth and can be used to change the positions of misaligned teeth to create that perfect smile. Although porcelain veneers require the removal of some tooth structure, it is considerably less than what is required for the placement of ceramic crowns. The advantages of veneers include strength, durability and long lasting esthetics.

Just a note of caution here, not all dentists have the same training in relation to cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry is not a legally recognized specialty, which makes you somewhat vulnerable as a consumer. Any licensed dentist may advertise as a cosmetic dentist. It is incumbent upon you to make sure the dentist you select has extensive training in COSMETIC dentistry.

Better smiles for all.
